| As Consultant/Director we offer guaranteed continuity of personal service, unlike larger agencies where high staff turnover and frequent change make it very difficult to establish long term relationships and work in partnerships. | |
| We are highly effective in the Auckland market which is our business base, it is where our network is strongest, our professionalism recognised and our principal focus of activity. We are less effective outside of Auckland. | |
| We seek to add value through association with other business professionals and specialists in related fields. |

Initiative will offer a distinctly different and refreshingly innovative approach.
Initiative bases its initial assessment on a personal interview of approximately one hours duration, reference checking and the use of psychological services add further dimensions to the assessment. Initiative Consultant/Directors understand that "Beauty is in the eyes of the Beholder" and therefore the more effort put into understanding the client, culture, recruiting manager and the needs of the job, the more likely it is to attract and identify suitable applicants.
During the course of a personal interview, through the use of structured and open questioning techniques, we seek to establish the following:
| Cultural fit and environmental preferences | |
| Work preferences | |
| Strengths and weaknesses | |
| Aspirations | |
| Key Competencies/Gaps | |
| Work ethic assessment | |
| Integrity check | |
| Leadership/management potential |
This assessment is then matched to the job description and person specification and judgement applied, we adopt a pragmatic approach and believe in calling a spade a spade. We do not fly kites other than with clear markings on!
Another innovation from Initiative is to use the candidates own resume supported by a Consultants Assessment (typically one page) drawing out the relevance to the job applied for. This approach has won strong support from candidates and clients alike, candidates who have put a lot of effort into their resumes do not see it being compromised, clients see how the candidate presents information rather than a sanitised version produced by a consultant, appropriate expectations are set of the candidates written skills and ability to present information in a structured format.
Post placement servicing is an integral part of Initiatives service and is based on:
i) Initial contact with the candidate and client
during the first week of appointment.
ii) A further check between month 1 and 2 of
appointment.
iii) A further check one month later.
iv) On-going contact as required.
